Job Description, Auditor
This Auditor position will be required to perform various financial functions such as examining fiscal and accounting records (bank statements, financial ledgers, financial statements and payroll records). The Auditor will review food service receipts and invoices to determine allowability of expenses and write reports summarizing the results of the review. This position requires good organizational and time management skills and a professional approach to working with program staff and the public. Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Programs are required. This position will not supervise, occasional travel may be required.
Desired Experience:
Candidates should have experience completing the following tasks:
- Perform basic bookkeeping, accounting and financial record keeping procedures. Some knowledge of financial terminology, payroll procedures, and budget preparation. ·
- Ability to compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete.
- Perform routine review and verification of financial data and accounting records.
- Check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers. ·
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software, including but not limited to, Outlook, Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working for a federally funded child nutrition program, such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program. ·
- Experience working in a fast paced, office setting, conducting a wide range of auditing tasks to support program operations.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Programs including Outlook and Word in addition to an online payment processing system such as the CACFP Information and Payment System (CIPS), and management storage systems such as, Docstar eFile Management Software.
- 18 accounting credits.
Additional Position Information
- The 2 Auditor positions being solicited with this RFQ are vacant positions, not occupied by an incumbent.
- There is free parking available at this office location.
- 8-hour shift between the hours of 8 am – 4:00 pm, at the discretion of the hiring unit.
- All state, temporary and consultant staff are required to have a photo identification card. To receive the identification card, temporary employees must complete and submit a New DOH ID Card form and include a check or money order (no cash) for $13 made out to the NYSDOH. This will be handled by the supervisor, once the candidate has started.
- Training will be provided.
- Although there is no preferred level of education, the Department prefers a candidate who possesses the desired experience and preferred qualifications listed in the Temporary Staff RFQ Attachment.

- This position is full time. Telecommuting is allowed, pending supervisor approval, and not before the initial 6 weeks of employment.
- Interviews will be held in the office location by a panel of 3 interviewers.
- If a candidate resume is submitted by two temp agencies, the candidate will only be interviewed once. We will set up the interview with one temp agency and provide the date and time to the second temp agency.
